As a teacher in the county I am also nervous about my job. It is not a good time for anyone to be unemployed, but I feel fairly confident that the school board will find other ways to "trim fat" instead of cutting instructional positions or pay. I am completely disgusted with the state of Florida and our legislators. Education is obviously not important to those people in Tallahasse creating this chaos. My family needs my job April, and I'm confident that you will keep that a priority as you face some tough choices. I definitely don't envy you.

It is the board's priority to not lay people off and not cut pay. Certain positions may not exist, but there will be a place in the district for our employees.

So we should be ready to possible lose our job or get a pay cut... We should be notified as soon as possible so we can make plans. I thought in the superintendent’s letter that we weren’t going to lay people off. We were just going to leave vacancies unfilled.

To be honest, I would like to know if I am going to lose my job right away, not weeks from now. I have been teaching in this county for two years, and now I am in fear that I could be cut or put in a pool that sends me so far away from my home that I will never see my children because I live in Pasco... When will we know?

What is the likelihood of losing my job? What is the likelihood of getting a pay cut? If teachers take a pay cut or we resort to cutting pay, we better get rid of SpringBoard first. It’s almost 4 million a year. That would look really bad. How much would we save not having all those one-week trainings for employees over the summer? That will cost something like 3 million or more too. I am not even counting the hidden cost to run the show and the ridiculous pay for the “motivational” speakers.
