Tell me what you think

Since 2006 I have had the honor of representing all Hillsborough County children and voters...I created this blog in 2007 and have welcomed the opportunity for feed back throughout my term.

I am now a candidate for re-election and I need your help. Visit my website at http://www.voteapril.com/ .

I still want your input. If you think something is wrong, then tell me how it can be better. If you have information that would help our children, employees, or taxpayers, this is the place to share.

Please also note that this is my personal blog, not the board's. Furthermore, the opinions expressed by posters on this blog may or may not necessarily reflect my opinions or those of the School Board.

Again, if you want to follow my campaign you can go to http://www.voteapril.com .

You can also write me at april@voteapril.com or call 813-417-1102 .

At your service,

April Griffin,
Hillsborough County School Board Member, and Candidate
District 6 (Countywide)

The election is over...

And I want to congratulate Carol Kurdell for her victory. Now let's move forward and work toward student achievement.

Thank you, April, for supoorting the Alafia parents in their right to speak the full 3 minutes.

I'm disappointed in Mrs. Kudell. She should have known better. Dr. Lamb obviously knew better, but failed to get vocal about it until he saw that one of the parents had the rule printed out.

Please post this.

April--you are gracious. We regret that the facts weren't known by enough voters and that you and Susan have to try to function in the snake pit. Our thoughts are with you both--you are so much appreciated.

Kudos to Kurdell for allowing the speakers to go over their 3-minute allotted time limits. It was nice to see a bit of flexibility from the board chair. I do not think it caused any great degree of harm to be a little flexible with the speakers. The world didn't end, and the meeting wasn't extended too much because of it.

April—

Thanks for drawing attention to the protocol. I thought it was understood the time limit reduction was for speakers on the same subject, not speakers in general. It just goes to show you never can tell how some people will perceive otherwise routine things.

It's a shame we can't get more folks like yourself on the board.
