The results from the survey about the schedule change are out. Did we think the results would be any different?
I do not think the results are biased. I believe they are honest. I'm glad teachers were honest about the affects of the change

We have to be willing to listen to our employees understanding that people on the front lines can help us understand how to improve our school district.

April--
Your comments on the article by Marty Nemko in the Tribune? Isn't it so very interesting that teachers--and yourself have been advocating for more vocational education and less Springboard and her come this article by a renowned expert to support it it? Thanks, also to the Trib!
Please ask Dr. Hildebrand to fully explain his "biased" response to the board.
I thought we had a PR person to instruct our district folks on how to respond in such cases.
All he did was anger me by his dismissive attitude.
April-
Considering the current budget problems, aren't the teachers out of luck?
I agree. I am a teacher, and I know that things are very, very different from last year. The first half of this year, I refused to change a thing. I was working around the clock, grading essay and projects all weekend, grading 150+ papers a night, updating and tweaking lesson plans into the late hours.
My family finally drew the line, and so did I! The second half of the school year I had no choice but to assign less, change my tests, change the way I graded essays, and change the way my lesson plans were by giving students more group assignments and some "busy work" just so I could get the job done. I still work at least 50 hours now. But, that is doable when compared to the 70 or so I was putting in as an English honors teacher to 150 students. My one planning period is just enough to cover reading and responding to emails, photo copying various things, and making parent phone calls. ALL of my grading, assessing, planning, paper work, grade entering, studying, and website updating, etc. is done on my lunch and at home.
THAT IS THE TRUTH! NOT A BIAS!!!!!!
Just because you don't like the results doesn't mean there was bias. How about Hildebrand and all of the failed site-based administrators which have been wisked away to the welfare program for the incompetent at ROSSAC(otherwise known as the Screw Up & Move Up Method) work an extra hour a day starting in August, but no have increase in pay. Then take the exact same survey the teachers took in March. I look forward to the non-biased results. By the way, leadership is demonstrated and not announced. As such, I look forward to the press release saying that just like the high school teachers, all ROSSAC employees will work an extra hour with no change in pay. I'll hold my biased breath.
Thanks,
MaryEllen
After reading "not biased"-- I must also comment. I did the same thing she did. I am still not happy with the way the students are being shortchanged, but I am a little less exhausted than I was. My quality of life has improved, and I'm not sure the quality of instruction decreases greatly. It was compromised before the year even began.
As for the Hildebrand...? Come on back to the classroom and see what you think about "bias", then! The man--and most ROSSAC folks-- are SO sadly out of touch with the reality that exists in the classroom.
Are the results any different than we though they would be?
I assume you meant "thought?" What qualifies you to be a School Board member??
Simple typo Debbie. Thank you for the editing.
