I have two boys so I found the following article about boys and organizational skills particularly interesting.
With girls performing better than boys academically, education professionals have been debating whether or not there is a crisis in the education of boys. Some say single-sex schools is the answer, some say they need male role models or new teaching techniques. There are some who believe physical changes in classrooms encourage boys to move around, rather than trying to anchor them to their seats is key to their success.
But as they deliberate, tutors that charge as much as $100 an hour and college counselors have stepped up to the plate to help boys be successful.
Tutors say their main focus is organizational skills because boys generally have more difficulty getting organized and multitasking than girls.
It’s about time the education community realizes the difference in learning styles between boys and girls. That being said, I don’t believe there is a magic bullet. The solution is going to be a multi pronged approach.

1) At $100 per hour I'd make sure my kid did everything the tutor required.
2) People are paying $100 for things that schools can (and often) do. As a Reading Specialist I used to present many of these strategies to the "occasional" parent that showed up. Results: zip...they got it for free and that's exactly what it was worth to them.
Although girls out perform boys in the classroom time and time again, men are still privy to 90 percent of the upper echelon of management and power positions (CEO, CFO, COO). I am not that concerned for them. Also, in most professions, women still only make between 75-80 cents on the dollar that men make. Women must come out on top, just to be considered equals to their male counterparts. Men mature later, and that is where the schism lives. Research has shown that most men cite that their grades weren't as high as they female classmates because they knew that they could make up for it in other arenas and because other things took priority.
On the other hand, having diverse learning experiences and approaches in the classroom is not only beneficial to boys but to students of every ability. We must have high standards and clear expectations, and it is a personal choice for students to rise to it.
